The first music I ever heard was my mother’s heart beat.
The most beautiful music in the whole world.
(boom boom, boom boom. . . )
The music of our ancestors
The music of creation.

This Bitter Earth
02:21
|
|||
This bitter earth
Well, what fruit it bears
If my life is like the dust
That hides the glow of a rose
What good am I
?
Heaven only knows
.
What good is love
that no one shares
.
Ooh, this bitter earth
Yes, can be so cold
Today you are young
Too soon, you're old
But while a voice within me cries
I'm sure someone may answer my call
And this bitter earth
may not be so bitter after all
True believer, true believer,
A long way from home.

Mammas Ögon
02:47
|
|||
My mother was my first, my most important teacher.
I have my mother’s eyes.
They shine with wanting to see everything
They see everything, they see...
I have my mother’s hands...
Soft warm good...
They caress all things to peace
They give everything they give everything they give...
Jag har min mammas ögon
De ser vad allting är
Jag har min mammas ögon
De lyser av begär
Att se allt, att se allt
De ser allt

Vaj Vaj
05:19
|
|||
If Vaj Vaj left today.
I wonder if I’d last.
The bodies slow decay.
But you cannot stop the time nor the rain
So blue because I love you.
Horses stumbling.
I saw the carriage stall.
Where a face was turning
To hear the words that fall like the rain
So blue because I love you.
Drag drag go the waves.
Claw down a poisoned shore.
The footsteps in the sand
Are gone for evermore just like the rain
So blue because I love you.
Mysteries are silent,
Here in the air or stone.
They stare at me like precious idols
From the temple of bone
Through to the rain
So blue because I love you.
Mysterier är tysta
De finns i stenarna och i luften
Fotspåren är borta för alltid
Man kan inte stoppa tiden
Man kan inte stanna regnet
Tack älskade mamma
Jag älskar dig
Jag älskar dig
Jag älskar dig
Jag älskar dig

Mama

Mama. . .
My mother and I made a pact...
Whenever we missed each other we’d each go out and stand under the moon,
Her in Stockholm, me in West Cork...
Mama, Oh Mama. . .
And whoever left this earth first, we promised...
we’d find each other still... Under the same moon...

Mamma ?
I’m here mamma... the moon is full, are you there?
I’m here, daughter. I’m always here.
I’m afraid, mamma.
I know...
How can I keep loving when I’m hurt Mamma?
You love more Camilla...
But how do I keep loving when I don’t trust?
Love yourself more...
Ya...
Now is your time, daughter. You’re perfect.
Sing to me.

Den Lyssnande Maria
02:11
|
|||
Herre Gud vad det är vackert
att höra toner av en salig ängels mun
Herre Gud vad det är ljuvligt
att dö i toner och i sång
Stilla rinn o min själ i floden
i dunkla himmelska purpurfloden
Stilla sjunk o min sälla ande
i gudafamnen den friska goda

Cardo o Ceniza
05:27
|
|||
How would it be...to feel your skin against my skin?
Will it make me come alive or will it feel like dying?
My mouth will burn from my thirst for your kiss.
¿Pero, pero como serán mis despertares?
¿Pero como serán mis despertares?
¿Pero como serán mis despertares,
cada vez que despierte avergonzada,
cada vez que despierte avergonzada?
Tanto amor y avergonzada,
tanto amor (tanto amor) y avergonzada.

Alcoba Azul
04:29
|
|||
La noche ira sin prisa de nostalgia
Habrá de ser un tango nuestra herida
Our wounds dance a smooth tango
Our souls, a torn and bleeding accordion
We will be together this night until day breaks
Come back to me
Love me in utter darkness
In our blue bedroom where the sun never shone for us
Blind me, Bleed me
Smother my heart inside our blue room
Mi Amor
La noche ira sin prisa de nostalgia
Habrá de ser un tango nuestra herida
Un acordeón sangriento nuestas almas
Seremos esta noche todo el día
Vuelve a mí
Ámame sin luz
En nuestra alcoba azul
Donde no hubo sol para nosotros
Ciégame
Mata mi corazón
En nuestra alcoba azul
Mi Amor

Macorina
04:12
|
|||
Ponme la mano aquí Macorina
Ponme la mano aquí
Tus pies dejaban la estera
Why se escapaba tu saya
Buscando la guardarraya
Que al ver tu talle tan fino
Las cañas azucareras
Se echaban por el camino
Para que tú las molieras
Como si fueses molino
Ponme...
Tus senos carne de anón
Tu boca una bendición
De guanabana madura
Why era tu bella cintura
La misma de aquel danzón
Caliente de aquel danzón
Ponme...
Después el amanecer
Que de mis brazos te lleva
Why yo sin saber qué hacer
De aquel olor a mujer
A mango why a caña nueva
Con que me llevaste al son
Caliente de aquel danzón

I’m Your Man
05:53
|
|||
I’ll be your father
or your knight of love divine.
I’ll be your punishment and I will strip you in the cold moonshine.
I’ll be your memory and quietly slip away.
I’ll present you with all religion and give you a ring every day.
‘Cause I am your man.
I am your man.
I am your man.
I’ll be unworthy when I lick between your lips.
A slave to show you cowardice,
a bold pirate and captain of ships.
I’ll be a crucifix when I nail myself to your skin.
I will beg forgiveness from God and gently cleanse your sins.
‘Cause I am your man.
I am your man.
I am your man.
I’ll be Lord Byron if you want to be naked and free.
I’ll be Lord Jesus if you’re caught in a storm at sea.
I will bring you peace to rid your soul of fear.
I will bring you release if you are lost in a veil of tears.
‘Cause I am your man.
I am your man.
I am your man.
And I will ask for nothing…
But a promise for eternity.
And a vow to grant me your body.
And a charge to rule your destiny.

Owe Owe, ah, Owe Owe, ah. . .
In the foothills of the mountains of Peru lived a shaman, a rhythm maker, a prophet. His forefathers, stolen from their African lands, lived and died in chains.
This cajonero played Afro-Peruvian rhythms; Festejos panalivos, lando.
Making music for days and nights without end.
Passing around the rum.
Conjuring images of ancient times.
of mystics... magic... Santeria.
Owe Owe, ah, Owe Owe, ah. . .
The shaman’s name was Chocolaté.

Chocolaté
04:05
|

Every time I see the stars I think of Chocolaté smiling down at me
Wasn’t it sweet the way he looked
then swept me off my feet laughing, dancing.
Didn’t he know how it would go again
To never walk away
To always want to stay
Didn’t he know
Didn’t I know?
Stars. . .
The moon. . .
Chocolat, Chocolaté.
Chocolat, Chocolaté.
Chocolat, Chocolaté.
Tu eres el angel che adoro
E el Cherubin che venero
Eres la cadena del oro che mi tiene prisionero
Uwe uwe Oh, Uwe uwe Oh, Uwe uwe Oh. . .
Chocolat, Chocolaté.
Chocolat, Chocolaté.
Oooh
Didn’t he know how it would go again
To never walk away
To always want to stay
Didn’t he know
Didn’t I know?
Stars. . .
The moon. . .

Ponme mi vestido blanco
aquel con que nos casamos
el doctor por mas que le ande
ta muy lejos muestro rancho
ya no gastes en remedios
ya mis fuerzas van mermando
Ponme mi vestido blanco
tata Dios me esta llamando
tata Dios me esta llamando.
Tata Dios
Tata Dios
Todo se queda en silencio
solo Juan le dice a ella
vieras que lindos jilotes
se estan dando en la ladera
pero ya no quiero nada
voy a ragalar la siembre
tata Dios asi lo quiso
y con tata nadie juega
y con tata nadie juega
Tata Dios
Tata Dios

La Cigarra
02:57
|
|||
Ya no me cantes cigarra
que acabe tu sonsonete
que tu canto aqui en el alma
como un punal se me mete
sabiendo que cuando cantas
pregonando vas tu muerte.
Marinero marinero
dime si es verdad que sabes
porque distinguir no puedo
si en el fondo de los mares
hay otro color mas negro
que el color de mis pesares.
Un palomito al volar
que llevaba el pecho herido
ya casi para llorar
me dijo muy afligido.
ya me canso de buscar
un amor correspondido.
bajo la sombra de un arbol
y al compas de mi guitarra
canto alegre este huapango
porque la vida se acaba
y quiero morir cantando
como muere la cigarra.

I Owe you Nothing
01:26
|
|||
Dime Mama
Tell me...
Do the words owe the melody
Does the bird owe its song.
Do the waves owe the ocean,
Or the moonbeams the sun.
Does the dance owe the foot.
Or the foot owe the shoe.
Does the bullet owe the barrel,
Or the sniper that shoots.
I owe you nothing
Except everything I own
And all I see in my world.
And all that’s left unknown.

I thought my problem was an empty bowl,
Until my bowl was filled.
I thought my sorrow was having to move,
Until my movement stilled.
I thought my fear was of the dark,
Until I turned on the light.
I thought that I could do nothing wrong,
Until I did something right.
I was dreaming I could touch the stars
When I fell out of my tree.
Always laughing at somebody else,
Till the joke turned on me.
I thought my courage meant I’d never loose,
Until I gave up the fight.
I thought that I could do nothing wrong,
Until I did something right.
------
Do you ever feel wonder, but nothing to touch?
Yet touched is all you feel.
I thought of a mountain as something to climb,
And not something to rise in me.
----------
I thought the world was a shallow place,
Till I was lost at sea.
I thought my strength was in standing alone,
Till the ground gave beneath my feet.
And all my hopes were tied up in dreams,
Until the end of the night.
I thought that I could do nothing wrong,
Until I did something right.

Happiness
04:43
|
|||
Now that I found peace at last
Tell me, Jesus, will it last?
Now that I found peace at last
Tell me, Jesus, will it last?
The birds are laughing in the trees
It's only make believe
It's only love
It's only love
It's only love
I Swear
I wanna hold you, and treat you right
The cigarettes, and the morning light
I can do wrong, but I will do right
I see you later
It'll be alright, yeah
Now that I found peace of mind
Tell me, Jesus, is it mine?
Now that I found peace of mind
Tell me, Jesus, is it mine?
Birds are laughing in the trees
And in the empty breeze
It's only love
It's only love
It's only love
I Swear
I wanna hold you, and treat you right
The cigarettes, morning light
t
I can do wrong, I can do right
I see you later
Be alright, yeah
Happiness, happiness
Happiness, happiness
I wanted more, but live with less
Live again
Happiness
Now that I found peace at last
Tell me, Jesus, will it last?
Now that I found peace at last
Tell me, Jesus, will it last?

My People Hold On
03:53
|

My people hold on! My people hold on! My people hold on! My people hold on!
People the time has come, in this land
When lion must, lay down with the lamb
Brothers and sisters, live side by side
Hold on to love, let its light be your guide
My people!
My people hold on! My people hold on! My people hold on! My people hold on!
Let us all stand together
In peace, let us trust
I know your hearts are tired
I see the struggle in your eyes
We're all under the same sun, on this beautiful earth.
Hold on to love, let its light be your guide
My people hold on! Hold on! My people hold on! My people hold on! My people hold on! My people hold on!
